Ecuadorian contemporary musician, educator, and researcher, Víctor Manuel Rubio Carrillo is undergoing Ph.D. studies at the University of Miami. He serves as conductor of the Musical Learning Community, part of the Action Research Network of the Americas. Where he collaborates with various learners, artists, educators, and action-researchers, as they study their surroundings, investigate and face the socio-cultural problems of their environments, and work towards sustainable communal solutions. He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Music, along with multiple certifications in education sciences, teaching, and music pedagogy. He is an active musician working in the development of the contemporary mestizo culture through the post-folk with the music group Yacija, and working in experimental post-rock as a musician with the project Identidad Cultural.
