I have been a qualified Nurse for twenty years and have had a number of diverse roles. I began my career in the operating department, gaining experience in anaesthetics and post anaesthetic care. Following this I undertook further study and qualified as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in both school nursing and health visiting. Prior to transitioning to lecturing I worked as part of a team providing 0-19 health services to children subject to social services involvement, such as those on a child protection plan.
Since moving to education I have primarily been involved in teaching undergraduate nursing. As part of both my SCPHN course and my teaching qualification, I was required to undertake practitioner research and action research activities. My passion for addressing health inequalities, particularly in children and young people has directed my most recent areas of study.
