I am the manager of a Teacher Centre in Yakarawatta, Sri Lanka, which provides professional development opportunities to the teachers in the region. In the Sri Lankan government education service, I have acquired 33 years of experiences as a teacher and teacher educator. I started a programme to guide teachers to conduct action research in the North Western Province (NWP) in 2010. In order to publish action-research projects completed by teachers in NWP, an annual magazine called “Thinetha” (The third eye) has been published eight times up to now, with the sponsorship of the Provincial Department of Education. This annual magazine has been able to publish approximately 400 action-research reports within the last 10 years. I also have been involved in a project with NWP schools on guiding advance-level students on project reports they need to conduct for their course.
