PhD in political and social History (Department of History – Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, España); Master in Sociology and Lawyer (Universidad Nacional de Colombia).
My research interests and fields are historical memory, transitional justice, archives, and human Rights. I have been researcher and educator in public institutions, pedagogical centers, social organizations, and international cooperation agencies. I have special interest in the relationship between Participatory Action Research perspective and collective actions in human rights and peacebuilding. From 2018 to 2021, I worked as advisor and consultant in historical memory and transitional justice for the Program for Peacebuilding in Colombia of German Cooperation (GIZ), and from 2013 to 2018 I was advisor of National Center for Historical Memory – Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica (Colombia). In this institution, I coordinated the project for community education of social leaders, victims, and social organizations in archives of human rights. The main idea of this project was to contribute to fortify the capacities of victims of armed conflict, indigenous, peasants, afro descendant communities and organizations of human rights to recover the sources of memories of violence and community resistances in Colombia.
In 2017, I participated in the methodological committee of The First Global Assembly for Knowledge Democracy by Action Research Network of Americas (ARNA), which was held in Cartagena, Colombia. This was a special experience of exchanges and co-creation of methodological alternatives for dialogues among educators and researchers from different countries and contexts. In Colombia, I have been an instructor in academic institutions such as Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, and Universidad del Rosario. In addition, I teach an international course – Archives and Human Rights: Learnings from (post) Conflict Contexts in Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.
